"California-born Eva Salina has been immersed in the singing traditions of the Balkans since childhood — studying under masters, earning a UCLA ethnomusicology degree, performing at Carnegie Hall and the Library of Congress, and releasing acclaimed records that have landed on NPR, WNYC, fRoots, and the CMJ World Charts. Peter Stan, born in Australia to Roma parents from Banat, grew up playing accordion at three-day Serbian parties where money flew onto the floor like confetti. Together they perform the intimate kafana repertoire of Balkan Romani music — the listening songs that get overlooked in favor of brass bands — with a tenderness, precision, and open-heartedness that is simply rare." "Hubby Jenkins is a talented multi-instrumentalist who endeavors to share his love and knowledge of old-time American music. Born and raised in Brooklyn he delved into his southern roots, following the thread of African American history that wove itself through America's traditional music forms. As an integral member of the Carolina Chocolate Drops and later Rhiannon Giddens band, Hubby has performed at festivals and venues around the world, earning himself both Grammy and Americana award nominations. Today he spreads his knowledge and love of old-time American music through his dynamic solo performances and engaging workshops."

"An Austin, Texas original whose debut solo album was named one of the Austin Chronicle’s Top 10 Albums of the Year, Jenny Parrott performs with guitar, synth, omnichord, and a three-plus octave voice that can move from languid tenderness to avant-folk electricity in a single phrase. She has opened for Lake Street Dive, Shinyribs, and Jonathan Richman. She has played prisons, Black Panther reunion parties, and children’s shows. The Austin Chronicle describes her work as songs that feel like someone is seeing you more than she’s seeing herself."

"Their name comes from an old Cajun cry — the “taiauts,” the fox-hunting call that gave its name to one of the most joyful Acadian songs in the canon. Led by fiddler and accordionist Rafe Wolman, who has made countless trips to Louisiana and learned the music directly from its source, Les Taiauts play Cajun dancehall music from the deep well of Southwest Louisiana tradition: two-steps, waltzes, French-language rockabilly, and the kind of music that makes a room understand, suddenly and physically, what the word fais do-do means. Dance lessons provided. Hesitation not recommended."

"The Berkshires’ own hot jazz institution, named in the tradition of Louis Armstrong’s Hot Five, the Lucky 5 blends 1920s and ’30s swing with gypsy and Parisian flavors to keep feet moving and spirits aloft. Their seasoned musicians have toured and recorded with Neko Case, Iris DeMent, Del McCoury, and Bobby Previte, and the Hot Sardines have called them the band that “owns swing in the Berkshires.” They are right. Guitarist Kip Beacco, violinist Jonathan Talbot, trombonist/vocalist Carolyn Dufraine, bassist Matt Downing, and drummer Tom Parker — the math adds up to considerably more than five."

"The New Yorker called him “a present-day ironist with a prewar — first World War, that is — heart.” A Brooklyn native who was playing bluegrass banjo before his tenth birthday, Matt Munisteri is now regarded as one of the handful of truly authoritative acoustic jazz guitarists working in the pre-electric tradition — a first-call studio musician for any project requiring a 1920s or ’30s period sound, and a sideman and arranger on Grammy-winning records for Loudon Wainwright and Catherine Russell."

"Born in Ireland, raised on the Lower East Side, apprenticed on Royal Street in New Orleans alongside Sierra Ferrell and Tuba Skinny, and now holding down a Friday night residency at the Jalopy Tavern — Jackson Lynch and his Janks have built a sound the way you build a fire: sacred steel on top, bass saxophone underneath, and something roaring in the middle. Their 2025 Jalopy Records album Write It Down was recorded to vintage tape in New Orleans and draws on Bobby Charles, Irma Thomas, and Bo Diddley while sounding like nothing but itself. Garage gospel. The night does not end until they say so."

"Since forming in 2011, The Fretless has toured extensively across Canada and worldwide, including Australia, South and North America, and seven European tours—playing historic small halls to prestigious stages such as the Cologne Philharmonic, Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra Hall, Shetland Folk Festival, Festival Internacional Cervantino, and two sold-out shows at Celtic Connections. At home, they've captivated audiences at the Winnipeg Folk Festival, Small Halls, Hillside Festival, and Mariposa Folk Festival. They also had the honour of sharing the bill with legendary Canadian fiddler Natalie MacMaster for Canada Scene at the National Arts Centre.
In 2012, The Fretless had a breakout year with their debut album, Waterbound, winning Instrumental Album of the Year at the Western Canadian Music Awards and Instrumental Group of the Year and Ensemble of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards (CFMA). Their follow-up, The Fretless, won Ensemble of the Year at the CFMAs and features "Waving To Ryan," one of their most streamed songs. In 2015, Bird's Nest solidified their place in the roots music scene, earning a 2016 Juno award for Instrumental Album of the Year. Recorded live in a historic barn in upstate New York, their 2018 release, Live from the Art Farm, won a CFMA for Best Ensemble and a second Juno nomination. In 2021, The Fretless released their most ambitious recording — Open House, a 10-track guest singer collaboration featuring an astounding list of powerhouse vocalists. This album solidified The Fretless as an ever-evolving, transcendent group, earning them a Juno nomination for Contemporary Album of the Year in 2022.
Live from the Art Farm taught The Fretless to find a deep traditional groove, while Open House pushed them to explore new sounds and techniques. Influenced by these previous concept records, which expanded their arranging toolkit, The Fretless is set to release Glasswing — an album filled with breath, space, intention, and life. Opening up their writing and arranging process for the first time, they welcomed accomplished singer/songwriter Madeleine Roger to co-write three songs.
Experimental in nature, Glasswing feels effortless—capturing magical performance moments, superb subtleties, and over a decade of playing together. The Fretless's sound has never been more cohesive. With expert musicianship and a one-of-a-kind musical experience, the Glasswing tour will invite audiences to connect deeply, sharing a profound passion for music on an entirely new level.
The Fretless is Trent Freeman (Fiddle/Viola), Karrnnel Sawitsky (Fiddle/Viola), Ben Plotnick(Fiddle/Viola), and Eric Wright (Cello)." Website.

" Madeleine Roger (she/her) is an award-winning singer-songwriter from Winnipeg, Canada. While skillfully accompanying herself on acoustic guitar, it is her artistry as a songwriter that can silence a room, uniting her lyrical prowess with breathtaking melodies that linger long after they are sung.
Her newest collection of songs is a deeply personal body of work examining every nook and cranny of love and loss. It is unflinchingly honest, and is the result of three years of soul-digging, experimentation, and fine-tuning - Madeleine has poured over every word. Nerve, the album created in the process (out August 2024 on Birthday Cake Records) is her sophomore solo release, and it touches the exposed nerve left over from a breakup with a long-term lover and musical collaborator, the death of a soul-friend, the secret of an unrequited love, months of caring for a dying grandparent, and finding a curious peace in spite of it. It was produced by Josh Kaufman (Bob Weir, Bonny Light Horseman, Hiss Golden Messenger, Anaïs Mitchell) and recorded in four days in Kingston NY by engineer D. James Goodwin (The National, Fruit Bats, The Hold Steady).
She has toured extensively across Canada, Europe, USA, and the UK sharing her music live at the Winnipeg Folk Festival (MB), Shetland Island Folk Festival (UK), Vancouver Island Music Festival (BC), Wintergrass Music Festival (US), Dawson City Music Festival (YT) among many others. She is also a regular collaborator with JUNO award winning string quartet The Fretless, appearing with them in performances and on recordings as a vocalist and co-writer.

"Väsen is a Swedish folk music band from Uppsala, founded in 1989, consisting of Olov Johansson (nyckelharpa) and Mikael Marin (viola). Previous members include André Ferrari (percussion) and founding member Roger Tallroth (guitar), the latter of whom announced his departure from the band in 2020 to focus on new projects. As of 2021 they have released 20 albums, featured on others, and have toured every year also outside of Europe. Since 2002, however, performances outside Sweden have tended to not include André Ferrari, owing to his reluctance to tour internationally and the economic advantage of a trio. Since then, Väsen has released eight albums (Trio, Keyed Up, Live in Japan, Väsen Street, Mindset, Live på Gamla Bion, Brewed, & Rule of 3) in this “strings-only” format."Wikipedia

'Kingston waslucky indeed to catch Sally Baby's Silver Dollars as they swing down the east coast gliding on the wings of their recent Tiny Desk Concert with a fresh take on retro New Orleans R&B dance hall music and Creole Jazz.
You could draw thousands of lines on a map of America that preceded the beginnings of Sally Baby’s Silver Dollars; strands that zig zag across the earth from New York to San Francisco to Standing Rock. Yet each line inevitably leads back to one place - New Orleans.
Sal Geloso has been living and playing music in New Orleans for over 17 years, and his music echoes through the street corners to the coffee shops, bar rooms and fire lit swamps. Sal’s songbook is a rich aural tradition that traces a history of friendships, love and loss, and embodies the boldness of living a life that puts art at the complete forefront of existence.
Sally Baby is backed by his Silver Dollars, a band comprised of collaborators and friends who are all in demand musicians in and outside of New Orleans. They each bring an area of expertise that breathes further life into Sal’s music, fleshing out the influences of Early Jazz, New Orleans RnB and Brass Band music. They are: Zach Serlet (Bass), Steve Detroy, (Keys), Nathan Wolman (trumpet), Oliver Tuttle (Trombone) and James Beaumont (saxophone). Together the band placed silver in the 2024 Tiny Desk Competition with their video for the song ‘I’ve Got No More Tears Left To Cry’, and the song was featured on NPR’s national show ‘Morning Edition’, along with an interview with Sal.
Along with national recognition, Sally Baby has had a surge of popularity in New Orleans, with recent performances at both The French Quarter Festival, and the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage festival. The band will also be touring extensively in the summer, with notable Shows at High Sierra Music festival and the Oregon County Fair, alongside double bills with The California Honeydrops." Internet
